Thanks, I’ll look into finding older blue books. Anyone out there have a 2005 Blue Book and can look up the value of a '93 Subaru Impreza, AWD, sedan, good condition, about 120,000 miles on it at the time. Also had a CD player installed, and electric windows. Don’t think there were any other bells and whistles.
Book Value - Tax Assessed on Non-Dealer Sales. The amount of sales/use tax assessed on casual sales (non-dealer sales) is based on the higher amount of: the actual amount paid for the vehicle; or the clean trade-in value of the vehicle adjusted by either the high mileage adjustment (decreases value) or the low mileage adjustment (increases value).
Chances are, varies by state, the DMV will require the recipient to pay sales tax on the value of the vehicle regardless of what you put on the bill of sale. +1 Just like virtually every type of regulation, this will vary from state to state. In NJ, my father transferred a car to me for $1, which was far below the actual value of the vehicle.
General Discussion. nikkolaus December 5, 2017, 10:59am 1. A vehicle was given to my mother for free many months ago, and I snapped a photo of the engine and VIN, with hopes in finding more info about the car, and worth. However, I have completely forgotten the Make/Model. Can you decode this 12-digit car VIN for me? 2T87R3130516.
On an older vehicle quarter panel damage repair can exceed the value of the vehicle, don’t be surprised if this car is “totaled”. If you had a $60,000 luxury car diminished value would be a serious consideration however with a vehicle valued at $3,000 to $5,000 it seems like a waste of time. 1 Like.
If the KBB fair condition value is $9,000, I’d take off $1,500 because KBB is unrealistically high, that leaves $7,500. Then take another $1,500 for repairs, so you’d offer $6,000. If the seller balks, offer $7,500 if the car comes to you with a new timing belt, new plugs, and new front brakes. Since you didn’t mention the year of the car ...
Just curious. What happens if you get in an accident, say you scrape against a tree and tear off a fender, and the estimated cost to fix it is say $2000, but the car is only worth $1500 by the Kelly Blue Book. So the insurance company says it is “totalled” right? Then they pay you $1500 cash, and take the car. They say this is reasonable, because you could purchase another like it for ...
There was damage to the rear driver side axel, cosmetic damage to the fender and door, and since the impact moved the car against the curve the rear passenger side axel was also bent. I had a body shop look at it and since the blue book value of the car is around $2,200 he told me that the car was totaled. I just want t...
I’m looking at 1995 Toyota Celica Convertible GT, with 134k miles, that a private party is asking $3800. The KBB says the price is 3,750, while Edmunds TMV gives me a much lower price of 2,200. Is TMV way to low, or should I make a significantly lower offer? Both searches were done with comparable conditions and for private parties. I did some research, and found that locally (So. Cal. area ...
A “factory new” engine on a used car will tend to INCREASE value, but by an amount considerably less than the market value of the engine. A “150,000 mile car” would be worth less than a “150,000 mile car…with 10,000 miles on a factory reman.” (In fact, cars with brand new engines and trannies tend to BRAG about the fact in the ...
